In this paper, an FPGA based reconfigurable fault-tolerant inverter without redundancy is designed. This reconfigurable control strategy allows continuous operation of inverter even in the presence of fault. The overall performance of the system depends on the speed and accuracy of fault detection and isolation unit. PWM method is used to control the operation of system. Once fault is monitored by FDI unit, inverter continues its operation without any interrupt and simultaneously reconfiguration is done by FPGA. FPGA controller by its admirable property of self-healing characteristics generates suitable PWM signal to inverter circuit within few milliseconds, thereby increasing the performance of system and reduces the cost of design.
