In present years Microstrip patch antennas are the most used antennas in compact commercial designs. The main advantages of these antennas are easy manufacturing, high efficiency, low weight, and low cost. As typical disadvantages, they exhibit a narrow bandwidth and high mutual coupling when used as array elements. Several different attempts have been made to improve these disadvantages. Mutual coupling has a direct impact on the array systems performance. The interaction between array elements degrades S-parameters and the radiation pattern.
