In this PDF download from TechRepublic Premium, you'll learn how to use Git, from start to finish. After installing the tool, learn how to create a local repository, add files, commit the files, push the files to a remote GitHub repository, and then pull changes from the remote repository to your locally housed repository.

In this From Start To Finish how-to, I’m going to walk you through the process of installing and using Git as a version control system. I’ll also demonstrate connecting Git to a GitHub remote repository.

How to install Git

Git is supported on Linux, macOS, and Windows. I’ll demonstrate this on Pop!_OS Linux. The usage will be the same on all platforms, but the installation will vary. So to install Git, you’ll need to alter the installation command/procedure according to your operating system of choice.
