Gain Enhancement Of Micro-strip Patch Antenna using Dumbbell Shaped Defected Ground Structure

In this paper, the authors present the gain enhancement of the proximity coupled microstrip patch antenna using the two dumbbells shaped Defected Ground Structures (DGSs) for L band (1.5GHz) application. The higher order harmonics has been reduced to increase the gain of the antenna using the defected ground structure technology. Using the DGS under the feed lines presents the stop band characteristics at a certain frequency and that has been adapted to reduce the higher order harmonics and to enhance the gain of the antenna at a fundamental resonance frequency.
