Gone are the days when playing a game involved installing the heavy game instances on personal computers. Cloud gaming has become the way of gaming today. There are only a few companies like OnLive, Gaikai, and Playcast Media which have entered into this market in which games are run from the cloud and the users only need a thin client to play the game. OnLive is the only company which has commercially launched the service in the US so far. This paper is to build a cloud gaming system (called GameOn) in order to get an understanding of the various challenges in rendering a game from the cloud to thin clients running on user systems.
