In this paper, the authors propose an Identification of gender through finger print biometric using discrete curvelet transform and back propagation with feed forward neural network classifier. Biometrics which establishes the identity of an individual through physiological features or behavioral characteristics those are unique to the individual. Among all the biometrics, fingerprint is the reproduction of a fingertip epidermis. It is produced when a finger is pressed against a smooth surface and it is proved that gender identification from fingerprint images is possible using the relevant features which are extracted through fast discrete curvelet transform.
