High Speed and Reduced Area Realization of EDDR Architecture

While focusing on the testing of MECA in a video coding system, this paper presents a Built-In Self Detection and Correction (BISDC) design, based on the Residue-and-Quotient (RQ) code, to embed into ME for video coding testing applications. An error in Processing Elements (PEs), i.e. key components of a ME, can be detected and recovered effectively by using the proposed BISDC design. Experimental results indicate that the proposed BISDC design for Motion Estimation (ME) testing can detect errors and recover data. The functional verification and synthesis can be done by Xilinx ISE 12.3 version.
