Technical leadership in the digital age has undergone a fundamental metamorphosis. Prior notions of simply maintaining a large IT department no longer apply. Startup culture, digital technology and global business have forever changed the expectations associated with senior technology leaders. Technical leaders must now be able to rapidly provide direct business value via complex products in an agile and lean environment. Technical leaders must be fluent in digital technologies (i.e. social media, mobile technology, analytics & big data, cloud computing & e-commerce) as well as in new development practices (i.e. scrum, lean and Kanban) in addition to having deep business acumen.
