How To Become A Sports Medicine Doctor
Sports medicine focuses on preventing, diagnosing, and treating conditions and injuries related to athletic activities and exercises. Sports medicine doctors are specially trained medical professionals that care for a variety of athletes. Sports medicine doctors must complete the basic requirements of all doctors: an undergraduate degree in science and Doctor of Medicine degree (MD) and residency requirements. They must also complete a specialty in sports medicine and complete internships and fellowships. Employment of all doctors is projected to grow faster than average for all professions, increasing 14% from 2006 to 2016. The increased participation in sports and fitness related activities and the demand for injury prevention will drive job growth.
