IBM i 6.1 is the most recent operating system for the IBM PowerSystems platform. Upgrading to this newest operating system version allows customers to take advantage of the latest hardware from IBM as well as the latest advancements in virtualization, integration, and centralization. Improved performance is another reason to upgrade to i 6.1. The IBM Oracle International Competency Center (ICC) executed tests to compare the performance of i 6.1 and i 5.4 in a JD Edwards EnterpriseOne 9.0 environment on an IBM Power Systems platform. The tests, utilizing Oracle's robust "Day In the Life" (DIL) kit for web users, showed a 5.4% reduction in CPU utilization running i 6.1 versus i 5.4.
