IBM X-Force Threat Intelligence Quarterly - 1Q 2014

In this first issue of a new, more nimble quarterly format, IBM X-Force examines methods and motivations of security incidents in the second half of 2013 which Chief Information Security Officers (CISOs) and other security executives can use to stay informed on the latest threats. Since late 2010, IBM X-Force has been reporting yearly increases of security breaches across many industries and how the advancement of these attacks continue to rise. Within the report, IBM X-Force investigates attacks that are increasing in sophistication against central strategic targets for maximum damage, resulting in the leak of more than half a billion record of personally identifiable information (PII) such as names, emails, credit card numbers and passwords in 2013. Further, IBM X-Force malware researchers (Trusteer) report on significant findings about attack vectors at the end of 2013: weaponized content and exploitation of common applications found on most user endpoints prevalent in every enterprise.
