Cloud computing is transforming the way supply chain organizations consume and use IT services. Nearly three-quarters of all manufacturers are either implementing or thinking about implementing cloud computing in their supply chains over the next one to three years. Although the topic retains more than its fair share of hype, the reality is that cloud offers the potential to not only transform how supply chain organizations procure IT capabilities but also fundamentally change how they manage business processes. This will not be a “flip the switch and it’s done” change, but it is a change that is rapidly accelerating within organizations.
