Identification of Web User Sessions using Clustering Technique

The common definition of a user-session is given by a period of time during which the user is generating traffic in internet a user-session is then terminated by a "Long" inactivity period. Within an activity period, many TCP connections may be used to transfer data. Unfortunately, the identification of active and silent periods is not trivial. Traditional approaches rely on threshold based mechanisms. However, these techniques are very sensitive to the value chosen for the threshold, which may be difficult to set correctly. By applying clustering techniques this project define a novel methodology to identify web user-sessions without requiring a Priori definition of threshold values.
