The explosive growth of the semiconductor industry over the past decade has been driven by the rapid scaling of Complementary Metal-Oxide Semiconductor (CMOS) technology. Interconnects still is the major area which continues to gain attention of designers as they play crucial role in power, delay and area of any chip. With use of multiple-valued logic it is possible to reduce the number of bits used to represent information in the circuit, so can be used to reduce the impact of interconnections. In addition to the reduction in number of bits, multiple-valued logic can show increase in functional complexity, implementing circuits that can perform comparable to the binary circuits.
