Cloud computing is a type of computing that relies on sharing computing resources rather than having local servers or personal devices to handle applications. Server environment such as cloud computing provides resource provisioning; it allows applications to evaluate the performance. Benchmarks are not designed for calculating performance of cloud computing environments. This results in misleading results and produces violations of Quality-of-Service (QoS) when systems tested using these benchmarks are deployed in production environments. So the authors present C-MART, new web application benchmark for the cloud.
