A Mobile Ad hoc NETwork (MANET) consists of mobile nodes that are capable of communicating with each other in multi-hop trend without centralized control and fixed based station. Multipath routing permits the flow of data from source to destination over multiple paths through the network. In ad hoc network, basic goal of routing protocols is to efficiently establish a route between the pair of nodes so that data can be reached to destination correctly. This paper proposes an Improved AOMDV (I-AOMDV) which is extension of AOMDV, uses the load balancing mechanism that avoids packet loss due to congestion, improves packet delivery ratio and throughput and also reduces end to end delivery of data packets.
