In this paper, the authors present a indirect vector based control strategy hybridized with the observer and feedfoward link for electric motors in electric vehicles. Motor transient performance and steady state precision may be improved under complicated on-road operation conditions. The speed or torque control mode can be easily switched to in the control system. The torque command is derived thanks to the torque observer and feedforward link for speed control, or given directly for torque control. Indirect vector control helps obtain the current references.
