Internal Vs. External Penetrations: A Computer Security Dilemma

In computer security it has been said that internal penetrations are the highest threat for data and information. This paper took the challenge to investigate if such a common belief is true. Various statistics are analyzed with the goal to give some light to the research community about internal and external penetrations. This paper highlights a weakness in computer security called "The unknown", which corresponds to intrusions to computers and network resources from which organizations do not know the cause.
