In this paper, the authors propose an efficient method for personal identification by analyzing iris patterns that have a high level of stability and distinctiveness. With the increasing emphasis on security, automated personal identification based on biometrics, has been receiving extensive attention over the past decade. The iris is, due to its unique biological properties, are exceptionally suited for identification. It is protected from the environment, stable over time, unique in shape and contains a high amount of discriminating information. This paper includes image acquisition, the preprocessing system, segmentation, feature extraction and recognition.
