Ad hoc networks are an essential part of wireless networking, where network is created dynamically without any pre-existing network infrastructure. The nodes of the ad hoc network can act as sending node, receiving node, router or any combination of these. Protocols used in such ad hoc networks differ from the protocols used in the traditional wired networks, for example Dynamic Source Routing protocol (DSR). There are various performance issues which determine the efficiency of the network like delay, capacity etc. All these issues are discussed in this paper along with the security concerns and issues.
