Grid computing provides the virtual framework to access, utilize and control a variety of underutilized heterogeneous resources distributed across multiple administrative domains. As grid environment is heterogeneous in nature, there may be wide range of failures occurred. Particularly the failure of resources affects job execution during runtime fatally. The authors propose a new framework called job scheduling with failure prevention strategies in grid computing environment. In order to handle failures and to avoid rescheduling of jobs after the detection of failure, pro-active failure handling methods are included in the scheduling algorithm to estimate the availability of resources in the grid.
