Mac Layer's Impact on the Performance of Routing Protocols in Mobile Ad Hoc Networks

MAC protocols are one of the important components of the wireless mobile ad hoc network. A detailed simulation model with MAC layer models is used to study the interlayer interactions and their Performance implications. This paper investigates the answer to that question by simulating the performance of two routing protocols (DSR, AODV) when run over two MAC protocol (CSMA, MACA) does, in fact, affect the relative performance of the routing protocol, On the QualNet 4.0 network simulator.
