Wireless Underground Communication Networks (WUCNs) consist of wireless devices that operate below the ground surface wireless underground and terrestrial communication is mainly differentiated by signal propagation medium. Wireless communication is very challenging in case of underground environment as propagation medium is no longer air but includes soil, rock and water. There are some obstacles which unable well established wireless communication techniques work well using ElectroMagnetic (EM) waves in this environment. This obstacles include high path loss, dynamic channel condition and large antenna size.
