Maximizing Lifetime for Wireless Sensor Networks using Swarm Optimization and Energy-Balanced Nodes

The primary challenge of wireless sensor networks is to improve network life time to overcome this challenge. In this paper, the authors introduced two approaches for improving network lifetime, relay nodes to alleviate network geometric deficiencies and Particle Swarm Optimization (PSO) based algorithm has been used to locate the optimal sink position with respect to those relay nodes to make the network more energy efficient. The relay nodes are responsible to communicate with the sink instead of the sensor nodes.
