Measurement Based Admission Control for QoS Enhancement of IEEE802.11 WLAN
With the increased demand and popularity of multimedia applications in Wireless Local Area Network (WLAN), the IEEE 802.11e standard provided many mechanisms for Quality of Service (QoS) at Medium Access Control (MAC) layer. IEEE 802.11 is supporting multiple classes of services with QoS constraints in MAC layer. Along with the Enhanced Distribution Channel Access (EDCA) proposed in IEEE 802.11e, MAC protocol admission control is a very important component for provision of guaranteed QoS parameters in WLANs. In this paper, the authors proposed a new algorithm to achieve better QoS by measurement based admission control algorithm for the IEEE 802.11e EDCA standard.
