Sybase and IBM users have many reasons to migrate Sybase Adaptive Server Enterprise (ASE) to IBM Power Systems platforms. The most common include scaling for performance and consolidation to save energy, licensing costs and charge backs. A strong case for migrating Sybase ASE to Power Systems can be made whether the user is interested primarily in scaling, consolidation, performance or any combination of these. For two decades (since 1990), Sybase ASE has chosen, as one of its first-tier platforms, the IBM System p family, which began with the IBM RS/6000 server, and now includes the entire IBM Power Systems platform with the IBM AIX Operating System (OS). Since 2004, the ASE first-tier platform support has also included the Linux operating system on IBM Power Systems.
