MIMO Communication System at a Glance

The MIMO communication system has multiple antennas at both the transmitting and the receiving ends of the channel. Using multiple antennas introduces additional spatial channels on account of which the capacity of the channel increases hence the authors get increased spectral efficiency without additional bandwidth or transmit power. Because of these properties MIMO communication systems have become an essential part of wireless standards like IEEE 802.11n and IEEE 802.16e WI-MAX. Moreover all upcoming 4G systems will also employ MIMO technology.
