Security in multicast routing in Mobile Ad hoc NETworks (MANETs) is crucial in order to enable effective and efficient multicast based group communication. The security issues of MANET's in group communications is more challenging due to presence of multiple senders and multiple receivers. In this paper, the authors analyze the vulnerabilities in a mesh based multicast routing protocol, Protocol for Unified Multicasting through Announcements (PUMAs) and performed the malicious node attack on it. NS-2.35 simulation results show the attacker impact on the performance metrics such as Normalized Routing Load (NRL), Packet Delivery Ratio (PDR), end-to-end delay and throughput.
