Near Optimal Rate Selection for Wireless Control Systems
With the advent of industrial standards such as WirelessHART, recently there has been success in real-world deployment of wireless control systems in process industries. Due to limited bandwidth in Wireless Sensor-Actuator Networks (WSANs), it is important to optimize the control performance subject to the network resource constraints of WSANs. In this paper, the authors address the scheduling-control co-design problem of determining the optimal sampling rates of feedback control loops sharing a WirelessHART network. The objective is to minimize the overall control cost while ensuring that all data flows meet their end-to-end deadlines.
