On the Support for the Assignment of Active Structure and Behavior in Enterprise Modeling Approaches
In this paper, the authors aim to analyze and review the support of the different kinds of active structure assignment in enterprise modeling techniques and frameworks, including ArchiMate, DODAF, and ARIS. Since they believe that these frameworks will be used in the description of an enterprise architecture in tandem with the detailed description of business processes, they also discuss the support for active structure allocation in processes modeling techniques, including XPDL, UML Activity Diagrams and BPMN in their analysis. They briefly describe each of the approaches and discuss their expressiveness with respect to the relations between the active structure of an organization (described in terms of actors, roles, etc.) and the behavioral aspects of the organization (described in terms of processes, activities, functions, etc.).
