On Two Routing Mechanisms for Wireless Sensor Networks
In this paper, the authors extend their previous implementation of the T-MAC protocol inside the sensor network simulator with a Receiver-Based Routing (RBR) service and they propose and implement several performance optimizations. They investigate the impact of several MAC protocol parameters (listen time, receiver contention window and radio switch time, etc.) on the performance of routing protocols used in resource constrained wireless sensor networks. The main performance criteria they are interested in are the energy consumption (reflected by the active time the node is operational), the throughput and latency of the network in delivering replies to users' requests.
