Optimal Impairment and Power Aware RWA for Coherent Optical Networks
The authors introduce the Impairment and Power-Aware RWA problem in coherent optical network, whose goal is to route the requested light-paths so that the overall network power consumption is minimized while considering OSNR and Optical Receiver Power limits. Recently energy saving becomes a critical issue in optical network planning. Although electrical devices are most energy-expensive, the optical network elements provide significant contribution to energy consumption that increases with traffic growth. Optical coherent technologies are now being deployed in order to cope the traffic demand with channel bit rate granularity of 100 Gbps.
