Distributed generation is the practice of locating small electrical power generation units close to the point of locating small electrical power generation units close to the point of end use. In this paper, an approach using Hybrid Genetic Algorithm and Particle Swarm Optimization search (HGAPSO) is presented for placing Distributed Generators (DGs) in distorted distribution system. The objective is to minimize the loss and average voltage Total Harmonic Distortion (THDv) of the distorted distribution system. A detailed performance analysis is carried out on IEEE 18 bus system to express the effectiveness of the proposed method.
