Oracle Delivers Unique Value With Oracle Solaris

The Unix Operating System (OS) has a rich history. Starting from its origins as an AT&T development project in the 1970s to providing the foundation for HP and Sun Microsystems to challenge the mighty IBM mainframe business, Unix can even be credited with spinning off descendants BSD and Linux, with the latter rising to a worldwide role that most competitors envy. Today, Oracle is a vendor that sells multiple operating systems aboard multiple hardware platforms, covering the x86 architecture with Oracle Linux and the x86 and SPARC architectures with Oracle Solaris.
