PAPR Reduction with Phase Shift Keying Modulation Using Firefly Algorithm
Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing (OFDM) is one of the most popular modulation techniques because of high bandwidth efficiency and robustness to multipath environments. However, due to its multicarrier nature, the OFDM system has high Peak-to-Average Power Ratio (PAPR) that can cause poor power efficiency and serious performance degradation, e.g., in-band distortion and out-of-band radiation. In this paper, the authors proposed the technique to reduce the PAPR using firefly algorithm in phase shift keying modulation system. Simulation results show that the proposed scheme considerably outperforms the conventional system.
