For efficiency reasons, it might be tempting to select a small RSA private exponent d. In this paper the authors established sufficient conditions to successfully mount partial key exposure attacks on RSA. Unlike previous paper, they focused on the practical setting of a private exponent d larger than the modulus N. They derived theoretical bounds that were validated through numerical experiments for various parameter sets. Their results illustrated once more the importance of careful implementation. Their work raises several open issues.
