Cooperative diversity can effectively mitigate the effect of fading channel in wireless networks with the help of distributed neighboring nodes retransmitting the received signal from the source to the destination, while multi-user diversity can be exploited by scheduling a user whose channel gain is near the peak. In this paper, performance analysis and optimum power allocation strategy for multi-user diversity of Amplify-and-Forward (AF) cooperative networks are presented and new closed-form expressions for the outage probability and average Symbol Error Probability (SEP) performance for BPSK signal are derived.
