Performance Analysis of Data Traffic in Networks Using Priority Discipline

With the increased demand for communication service of all kinds (voice, text and video etc. etc.) Broadband Integrated Service Digital Networks (B-ISDN) has received increased attention in the past few years. The key to the success of B-ISDN system is the ability to support a wide variety of traffic and diverse service and performance requirements. The B-ISDN is an appropriate choice to support traffic requiring bandwidth ranging from a few kilobits per second (e.g. a slow terminal) to several hundred megabits per second (e.g. moving image data).
