Performance Analysis of OSPF and EIGRP Routing Protocols with Respect to the Convergence
With the growth of Internet, the Internet Service Providers (ISPs) try to meet the increasing traffic demand by adopting new technology and improved utilization of existing resources. Routing of data packets can affect network utilization. Packets are sent along network paths from source to destination following a protocol. Routing is complex in large networks because of the many potential intermediate destinations a packet might traverse before reaching its destination. To choose a routing protocol for a network is a very difficult task. This paper will help to choose a best routing protocol between OSPF and EIGRP on the basis of convergence for a network. The concept of various performance activities of these routing protocols with respect to the convergence factor is analyzed in this paper.
