Performance Evaluation of L3 Handover Latency in MIPv6
Recent years in the field of mobile communications have brought two significant requirements - seamless service delivery and Quality of Service provisioning. Seamless mobility goes hand in hand with Mobile IPv6 protocol and various handover schemes of this protocol are trying to solve the QoS issue. In this paper the authors are presenting a method for evaluation of the Layer 3 handover schemes from the handover latency point of view. A L3 handover procedure can be divided into four phases: Movement Detection, CoA Configuration, Home agent Registration and Route Optimization.
