In this paper, the authors analyzed the performance of primary user detection based on Fast Fourier Transform (FFT) and simulated for Advanced Television Systems Committee (ATSC) Digital TeleVision (DTV) signals. In order to detect the present and absence of the ATSC DTV signals, a pilot detection scheme based on FFT is employed. A wireless communication channel is modeled as Gaussian channel. For evaluating the spectrum sensing performance, detection probability is derived. They consider four kinds of sensing time, which are 5ms, 10ms, 20ms and 40ms.
