Microstrip patch antennas are strong candidates for use in many wireless communications applications. In this paper, a dual band microstrip antenna is designed and its measurement results in terms of S11 and radiation patterns studied. Microstrip design equations are introduced and validated by simulated and experimental results. A patch antenna is designed to support modes with resonance at 1.8 and 2.4GHz. By this design it is also shown that dual band operation is possible with proper position of the feed line and proper determination of inset size.
