Vehicular Ad hoc NETworks (VANETs) are highly mobile wireless networks that are designed to support vehicle safety, traffic control, and other related applications. Within VANETs, vehicle movement will cause the communication links between vehicles to frequently be disconnected. Such connection breakages require a direct request response from the routing protocols, leading to high increase in the routing processing time and degradation in network scalability. A new hybrid position-based routing protocol that is particularly designed to address this issue.
