The authors incorporate the notions of identity-based encryption and commitment to present the provably secure identity-based commitment scheme. The advantage of the novel scheme is that the receiver does not need to manage the keys or private parameters for the unspecified number of committers in a public activity. In this sheme, the receiver yields a master public key for committing. Given the master public key and an identity, the committer commits to its message to the receiver. The receiver generates a secret key for the identity and opens the commitment using this secret key.
