Location awareness among the participating nodes is one of the crucial requirements in designing solutions for various issues related to WSNs. Node localization is required in reporting the origin of events, assisting group querying of sensors, routing and answering questions on the network coverage. Hence it is one of the fundamental challenges in WSNs. Manual configuration of locations is not feasible for large-scale networks. Providing each sensor with localization hardware (e.g., GPS) is expensive in terms of cost and energy consumption.
