Recent advances in wireless communications and electronics have enabled the development of low cost, low-power, multifunctional wireless sensor nodes that are small in size and communicate in short distances. The sensor networks can be used for various application areas (e.g., habitat monitoring, health, military applications etc). An efficient deployment of wireless sensor network depends on successful implementation of Quality of Service (QoS) framework. The current state of the art of wireless sensor networks is captured in this paper, where solutions are discussed under their related protocol stack layer sections.
