Rate Maximization for Half-Duplex Multiple Access With Cooperating Transmitters
The authors derive the optimal power allocation of a practical half-duplex scheme for the Multiple Access Channel with Transmitter Co-operation (MAC-TC). The system consists of two users in half-duplex mode communicating with one destination over a complex channel with additive white Gaussian noise. The transmission scheme is performed over 3 time slots, such that the users exchange part of their information during the first 2 and cooperatively transmit their information to the destination during the last time slot. This scheme is near capacity-achieving when the inter-user links are stronger than the links between the users and destination, it also includes partial decode-forward relaying as a special case.
