Wireless sensor networks typically require low cost devices and low power applications. Hence, such networks usually employ radios with only simple modulation techniques such as ASK, OOK and FSK. The authors present in this paper, a two energy efficient communication schemes for wireless sensor networks which are a redundant Radix Based Number (RBN) representation i.e. RBNSiZeComm (Redundant Binary Number Silent through Zero digit Communication) scheme and a ternary number system encoding of data TSS (Ternary with Silent Symbol) communication scheme.
