Energy harvesting is a process in which energy from external sources like solar power, thermal energy, wind energy etc., is captured and stored for small, wireless devices like those used in wearable electronics and wireless sensor networks. Radio Frequency (RF) energy transfer and harvesting techniques have recently become alternative methods to empower the next generation wireless networks. As this emerging technology enables proactive energy replenishment of wireless devices, it is advantageous in supporting applications with quality of service requirements.
