Scale and Rotation Independent Fingerprint Recognition
This paper focuses on the various phases and challenges in Fingerprint Recognition systems, and how these systems can be used in various spheres of life. A new method of fingerprint recognition based on features extracted from the fractal transform of the discrete image is proposed. The fractal features are extracted directly from the gray-scale fingerprint images without applying any pre-processing operations (e.g., image enhancement, directional filtering, ridge segmentation, ridge thinning and minutiae extraction). This helps to achieve lower computational complexity than conventional methods based on minutiae features.
